The electronic patient record (EPR)

The EPR is a digital collection of documents relating to a patient's health. The EPR makes it possible to store medical documents online and to view them with the proper authorisation. This means patients and authorised health professionals can access important health information at any time.

With the EPR, authorised health professionals can access treatment-relevant patient information at all times.

The EPR is a digital collection of documents relating to a patient's health. These documents contain information relevant to the treatment, such as a discharge report, a care report, wound documentation or an overview of the medications currently prescribed. Patients can also upload their own health information to their EPR, such as their living will.

Health professionals can upload treatment-relevant documents to their patients’ EPR at any time, and patients always decide who can view which documents in their EPR and when. This means that patients and authorised health professionals can access health data stored in the EPR at any time via a secure internet connection. In case of an emergency, health professionals can also view the documents in the EPR without authorisation.
