The shift towards the electronic health record (EHR) is an important step for the digital transformation of the healthcare sector. At the same time, this reduces demand for the current EPR among business and private customers. The shareholders of Sanela Health AG have therefore decided to dissolve the Sanela reference community at the end of 2026. In light of the changing market environment, Swiss Post has also decided to focus on the future EHR and to continue operating its EPR platform until the end of 2026.
Sanela is in direct contact with its customers to support the transition phase and prepare the steps towards the end of the collaboration. Wherever possible, we will examine how existing solutions and investments can be used in the best possible way.
The EPR is a digital collection of documents relating to a patient's health. These documents contain information relevant to the treatment, such as a discharge report, a care report, wound documentation or an overview of the medications currently prescribed. Patients can also upload their own health information to their EPR, such as their living will.
Health professionals can upload treatment-relevant documents to their patients’ EPR at any time, and patients always decide who can view which documents in their EPR and when. This means that patients and authorised health professionals can access health data stored in the EPR at any time via a secure internet connection. In case of an emergency, health professionals can also view the documents in the EPR without authorisation.
