Six cantons seize the opportunity and are now using Swiss Post’s digital EPR self-onboarding service.

Swiss Post goes one step further and simplifies access to the electronic patient record (EPR). As of today, residents of six cantons can complete all steps online when setting up their EPR. Swiss Post has developed a digital service for this purpose that is now available in the cantons of Basel-Stadt, Bern, Schaffhausen, Solothurn, Zug and Zurich. This eliminates the need for all prospective users to visit a physical EPR opening centre.

Sanela’s digital EPR self-onboarding service is now available

Easy access is a key factor for the success of the EPR. The digital EPR self-onboarding service developed by Swiss Post offers users specific advantages. Future users do not have to go to an opening centre, can identify themselves digitally online with their SwissID, and thus set up their EPR. The new EPR self-onboarding service is now available free of charge to residents in the cantons of Basel-Stadt, Bern, Schaffhausen, Solothurn, Zug and Zurich.

The following applies: You can continue to set up your EPR physically at an EPR opening centre.

Six cantons are offering the digital onboarding service

It all started with the shared interest of getting users to accept the EPR quickly. Six cantons now want to seize the opportunity and add momentum to the EPR. The cantons of Bern, Basel-Stadt, Schaffhausen, Solothurn, Zug and Zurich have opted for Swiss Post’s digital EPR self-onboarding service and are seizing this opportunity to get more members of the public to use the EPR by making it easily accessible. The partnership between the cantons and Post Sanela Health Ltd is thus set to strengthen and grow, e.g. through the connection of the electronic vaccination dossier with the EPR or the closely coordinated interface between healthcare institutions and the EPR. In addition to the cantons that have already opted for the paperless EPR self-onboarding service, further discussions are under way with the other cantons that have shown interest.
